**Steps to complete:**

1. [Prepare a user and a schema for Datafold](https://docs.datafold.com/classic/integrations/databases/ibm-db2.md#prepare-a-user-and-a-schema-for-datafold)
2. [Configure your data connection in Datafold](https://docs.datafold.com/classic/integrations/databases/ibm-db2.md#configure-in-datafold)

### Prepare a user and a schema for Datafold

Datafold needs a Db2 user with read access to the tables you want to diff, and a schema where that user can create tables. Datafold uses this schema to materialize scratch work and keep data processing in your database.

```Bash theme={null}
-- Create a schema for Datafold's temporary tables, owned by the Datafold user
CREATE SCHEMA DATAFOLD_TMP AUTHORIZATION DATAFOLD;
-- Grant read access to the tables in YourSchema (Db2 11.1 or later)
GRANT SELECTIN ON SCHEMA YourSchema TO USER DATAFOLD;
```

### Configure in Datafold

| Field Name | Description |
| - | - |
| Connection name | A name given to the data connection within Datafold |
| Host | The hostname for your Db2 instance |
| Port | Db2 connection port; default value is 50000 |
| Username | The Datafold user |
| Password | The password of the Datafold user |
| Database | The name of the Db2 database you want to connect to (for example, `bludb`) |
| SSL | Connect over SSL |
| Schema for temporary tables | The schema name only, for example `DATAFOLD_TMP` |

Click **Create**. Your data connection is ready!
